Gilbert Melendez has been forced to withdraw from next Saturday’s Strikeforce Championship title defense versus Pat Healy, due to a shoulder injury he sustained last week in practice. Melendez decided to forgo training for a few days to let the injury heal but it became apparent that the injury was too serious and would not heal in time.
Strikeforce has cancelled the entire event after Showtime decided not to broadcast the card without the Championship fight.
