Someone recently told me that the instructor at Napa Bjj and his brother are Cesar's very first first purple and brown belts, and were pioneer's in no-gi and leglocks back in the day, as well as being instrumental in dave terell and some of the current black belts upbringings. Whats the story behind this and is this guy legit? Ive Google'd their academy and it seems like they have been doing very well in tournaments recently, but i am confused as there are a few different academy's in napa
Thanks

Are they an affiliate school? I was thinking about making a trip out there as i heard they do nogi, is this their website, it says affiliate? I recently moved to st Helena and pleasant hill is too far for me atm with time constrictions (over an hour)
Kurt was Cesar's first purple and was instrumental in all of our coming up, a team captain of sorts. Kurt dished out the whoopins'.
Saul got his purple before me and Dave got his not long after that. Saul was a very important training partner and team mate in all our getting better as we all were to each other. Saul was good at leg locks and trained as hard as anybody there. Good guy and loyal team mate. I remember he trained with us very consistent for 3 or 4 years and he liked No-Gi. It was a long drive for him.
Dave was about 18 or 19 when he was a blue belt training with a bunch rough guys with man strength. Just so you know, purple belt on, Dave Terrell dished out the whoopins' on all of us there after.
You won't go wrong training with Saul.
Ouch is not a Jiu-jitsu term

Sidekicks Martial Arts is a Gracie Fighter Affiliate school and the only one in the Napa area. We are not related to Napa BJJ or affiliated with them in any way.
We do teach the Gracie Fighter cirriculmn that is taught at the Gracie academy in Pleasant Hill on a weekly basis. We are the only " Traditional" BJJ school in this area meaning we teach Gi and No gi BJJ.
Saul at Napa BJJ teach's pridominatly NO Gi BJJ and he has done very well with that. I dont want to get into any he said or she said and I dont need anymore drama in my life, but from what Cesar was saying in his response and what he has personally told me was that Saul got his Brown Belt from Dave Terrell at NCFA (another phenom Gracie Black Belt)

Matt just to set things straight, Dave never promoted Saul to brownbelt. Dave has only 2 or 3 browns and Saul was not one of them. Saul left my school as a purple belt and I don't know who promoted him to brown.
